Coir fibre from coconut husk is one of the best natural scrapers: it knocks grit off shoes and hides soil in its texture between cleans.

How to order coir cut to size
- Measure the recess. Length and width at several points; use the smallest. Note the depth: 17mm coir needs roughly a 17mm to 20mm recess. Our free site measure can do this for you.
- Enter the size online. Choose Custom Size on the product page and type your length and width. The price updates per square metre. Minimum 500mm x 500mm, maximum 20 metres x 2 metres.
- Decide on edging. Edging gives a finished border on surface-laid mats. For a recess, unedged coir is usual so it fits wall to wall.
- Allow for a runner. Hallways and corridors can be cut as one long runner up to 20 metres.
- Keep it under cover. Coir absorbs water. Use it in recesses, porches and interiors, and put a rubber-backed Waterhog at exposed doors.
- Add a logo if you like. A PrintPlush logo mat can sit inside the door past the coir recess.
Caring for coir
Vacuum or sweep regularly and shake out grit. New coir sheds a little and settles. Avoid soaking; if it gets wet, lift it and dry flat.
